The museum pays homage to the Local Tsonga and North Sotho people with displays of their hand-made weapons, sacred drums, pottery, beadwork, basketry and many other items. Displayed items form part of a personal collection of Mr Witt, the curator. Visitors can also view the royal drums and utensils of the late Rain Queen. What makes these items one-of-a-kind is their rarity because traditionally after the death of a sacred regent, the processions are burnt.
Tzaneen Museum is located on Agatha Street and is operational Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 17h00 and on Saturdays from 09h00 to 13h00.
